Mr Peter Vasas - General Surgery

Clinical interests

Mr Peter Vasas  is a fully accredited General, upper gastro-intestinal, laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgeon. He is on the Specialist Register for General surgery and is a full member of the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society.  He has had extensive training in both general surgery and weight loss surgery and has a special interest in diabetes treatment with bariatric surgery.
Mr Vasas graduated from the Debrecen University, Hungary in 1999. He pursued his Basic Surgical Training in Budapest and in London. He completed a Master of Science degree in cancer surgery at the University College London. He began his career in Bariatric Surgery in 2011 when he was trained in Belgium by Dr Bruno Dillemans, who is one of the world leader in bariatric surgery.  After this, Mr Vasas undertook the prestigious Ethicon sponsored bariatric Fellowship at the Luton & Dunstable University Hospital in 2012-2013.
He practiced as a locum Consultant Bariatric Surgeon in the East Midlands area since 2013, then joined to the Doncaster Royal Infirmary’s Bariatric Team as a Bariatric Surgeon in 2015. He was involved to more than 400 laparoscopic bariatric cases so far and was the first surgeon in more than 150 of these cases, with outstanding safety results and no leak.
He published articles on a wide range of subjects in General and Bariatric Surgery and presented at national and international meetings.  He provides the full range of general surgery, involving the surgery of groin (hernia), gallbladder and anti-reflux procedures via key-hole. He also provides full range of weight loss procedures, and specializes to perform keyhole gastric bypass procedure.  He believes that the excellent results can be achieved by a thorough understanding of the patients’ situation and will provide patients with an honest appraisal of their suitability of particular procedures.  Above all, he is committed to provide the highest standard of care in safe environment.
