Park Hill hospital support PIP patients from cosmetic company
that has suspended trading
19th January 2012
Park Hill hospital is stepping in to offer
free consultations and, if necessary, treatment to women with PIP
implants provided by The Cosmetic Surgery Centre Limited (CSC),
where their treatment was carried out at Park Hill.
Women who received their breast augmentation
surgery at Park Hill from CSC (a specialist cosmetic surgery
company) have been left worried about their situation when CSC was
revealed to have suspended trading and did not have insurance to
cover this.
Now, although they have no legal obligation to
do so, Park Hill is contacting those women to ensure they get
whatever treatment they need without burdening the taxpayer. Ramsay
Health Care, who operates the Park Hill hospital, has already
offered its own patients a consultation, scan and treatment, if
needed, at no extra cost.
Dawn Abbott, General Manager of Park
Hill hospital commented:
‘A high standard of patient care is important
to us at Park Hill. As CSC has ceased trading we made the decision
to contact all CSC patients whose PIP implant breast augmentation
was carried out here and ensure they get the same treatment we’d
offer our own patients. This is despite CSC being entirely separate
from Ramsay or Park Hill and the fact that we are not obliged to
act as we have.’
‘The patients will be offered a free scan and
a consultation with a surgeon. After discussion with the surgeon,
if the patient wishes to have their PIP implants removed and
replaced this will be done at no cost to the patient. This is what
Ramsay is doing across the country for all its own patients, and we
feel it appropriate in the circumstances.’
